The East King Street Redevelopment project consists of two mixed-use structures (A and B) over two levels of parking.
The maximum column and wall loads are 650 kips and 12 kips, respectively. The Building B foundations which bear in a medium dense sandy silt could have had total and differential settlements greater than 1 inch and 0.5 inch without some type of ground improvement.
GeoStructures provided the necessary ground improvement and settlement control through installation of 541 Geopier® elements. The Geopier elements extended approximately 10 ft through the miscellaneous fill and into the underlying loose to medium dense sandy silt.
